TD-14A Track Swap

My TD-14A has two stripped adjustment screws behind the front idle wheels so I adjust the tracks with spacers. I have access to a newer model -14A with a new undercarriage. Is there any reason to believe that I cannot do a complete swap of the two running gears? The newer one has 22" tracks vs the 20" tracks on mine, however the dozer blade frame measures 24" wide over the tracks. Will all of the blade bolt holes be the same on both tractors?

I did that once. I had a running TD-14A with a bad UC and got another slightly older 14A and changed everything around. Both had Bucyrus-Erie dozers and I think they both had 20" pads.
Lots of heavy work for only a slightly better UC but it worked.

Your swap was a no brainer because both had the same kind of implement bolted to the tractors. Did you change the main parts that contain the adjustment screws? In my case, the the tractor that I want to cannibalize has no blade on it. It was used for a farm tractor towing implements. Also, the two are 165 miles apart so it's difficult to do a one to one comparison.

I am having trouble understanding your question but according to my BERCO undercarriage book there is only ONE track chain so yes the track chain is the same whether 20 inch or 22 inch pads. Now the track frame is removal from one tractor and should be the same but going to be a lot of work. You could also just change the front idler yoke and the adjuster screws , any way you go lots of work for an old crawler.

am merely trying to find out if the running gears of an older model TD-14A and a newer model TD-14A (one with the throttle mounted like a Farmall M) are compatible. Besides wanting to swap the whole mechanism including the adjustment system, I want to make sure that the blade on my tractor will bolt up to the swapped adjustment housing.

I think a guy would need to know Serial numbers and if you had a parts book or someone on here or Red Power site had a book to look at, then you'd know. I wish I had my parts book yet, but I don't have it.

ctually, I've got a parts book. I have one serial number & will try to get the other one. It's a long way off!

(quoted from post at 12:13:03 01/22/18) arn't field tractors and dozers geared differently?
y main mechanic in town says that they are. Somebody on here (or maybe another forum) said that he was crazy because the parts book doesn't show any differences.
