Kamatsu D21 Blade Carriage

I have a blade carriage (C channel) that had a whole and a cracked around the bottom of the blade carriage. My question, is it easier to remove the carriage pins where the blade pivots up and down or would it be easier to remove the bolts that hold the carriage mounts to the frame? I'm removing the complete blade carriage so I can flip it up and weld a new spine in the carriage C channel. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Try the pins first, if they don't come out easy with a few well directed hammer blows, unbolt it. It's about the same, either way you do it
