Studebaker Powered dragline

This is probably a little out of the realm of this forum,but might as well ask.

Anybody know what make of dragline would have been powered by a Studebaker 6-cyl gas engine? My great uncle had one and it's just sitting now that he's passed. I've seen it up close a couple years ago, but can't remember the name on the counterweight. Part of me wants to say it was a Bay City.

could be a P & H or Northwest dragline

Certainly sounds interesting and sure has
peaked my interest. I have operated a dozen
different brands of draglines both gas and
diesel but have never even seen one with a
Studebaker engine in it. Unit cranes
generally used Chrysler gas engines, Shield
Bantam used Continental gas engines, Link-
Belt were generally Waukesha. You've got me.
Just don't it go to a scrapper if you can
help it.

Bob I like you have been around them for over 60 years and never seen a Studebaker powered one. I was betting he had mistaken a flat head continental but maybe he knows. Would be interesting to see a photo for sure.

I am ALMOST positive that My uncle said it was a Studebaker;but it was probably a decade ago when I saw it. There's also the possibility that he or whoever he got it from repowered it. He was a gyppo logger, so there were plenty of mix-matched pieces of equipment, like his Diamond-T log truck I have that was repowered with a 4-71 from a HD10.

The body of the dragline appears to be a faded shade of orange, but it's also fairly rusty. I think that the drive chains for the tracks were outboard, and the sprockets were exposed. He had removed the drive chains to be able to tow it around his place, because it didn't move fast enough for him.

I really would like to take it home, but I don't wan't his family to feel like I just want all his equipment, and I have too many projects already.
