have a front mount oil pump, helical gear on it to the front of the crank helical gear,, how do I tell how far apart the teeth must be? the cam gear is running off the crank gear also, it looks like my tolerance is very close to that pre set tolerance, but I loose all 'lash' between the gears when I tighten it hand tight, tolerance looks ok, but the pump seems like its binding, or wont move whatsoever, no play. I have some .005 shims, for it,.. should'nt their be a slight amount of lash? I should be doin Tday stuff, i'll try the shims,

at .010 shims, oil gear binds, with no torque, at .015 lash with wrench torque, I think I should put .005 more,? helical gears by the time you get up to 180 ft. lbs or whatever it is

book said .003 or .004 to .011 or 012, something like that, with three shim I had around .003 or .004, with another .005 shim, I had around .005 lash, went with that, thanx
