I had two D7 17a'a one was a 1958 and the other was a 1960 ,they are good old tractors and in seat start is good , I converted mine to 24 volt start . The serial number is locates on the back of the tractor under the fuel tank between the track and the cable control unit Send me the serial number and I can tell you the year .

If you can get your boss to sell it then convert it over to electric start or you can if you have a buddy to help you pull the dozer and start it that way. course I would make sure the motor is free first. some of those old dozer were built pretty tough. shame to melt them old dozers like that. you can also find the guy name who sold it to the yard and ask him what was wrong with it. possibilities are endless.

(quoted from post at 06:28:56 10/26/17) that's a 1961 machine

Cool ty for. The help some. One. Was telling me. Some thing about a gyro Dozer at work but I have. No idea where to look up anything about it or anything kind of got the balls leaning on selling it to somebody if they want to buy it so good possibility of my bed was saved from the Scrapp pile thank God but he. Not. Sure yet lol any one. Know. What they r worth or. Any info

If it has the "Gyro" dozer that's a pretty rare unit. Will have hydraulic tilt blade with 4-rippers or ripper pockets built into the blade. Blade lift will be cable operated. That's a fairly high s/n and would be a turbo machine.

Yes it is turbo charged it has one angle cylinder for the blade on the left side of the unit I will have to look about the Ripper please tell me more about that on how to how would I how would I identify what you're talking about it is all original like I said the one cylinder on the left side is what Kilz 2 blade forward or backward the right side has a steel bar

If it is a 17A with a factory turbo it seems to be called a "Whistler" here in Oz.

A local had one. IIRC 140 hp v/s 120.
