D3B fuel problem

My D3B--27Y03729 starves for fuel after about 1/2 hour run time, it starts at 30 psi fuel pressure and then slowly dies down to 0 and then starts missing--lower the throttle and it goes up to 10 psi. shut it of,wait 15 minutes and start it and 30 psi.

I have installed new fuel filters, cleaned the screen in the fitting at the transfer pump, blown the line out from the transfer pump to the fuel tank and fuel flow under gravity is fine, I have hooked up a fuel pump to a hose and sucked about 5 gallons out of the tank bottom and it was all clean.I also removed the fill cap to see if venting is a problem.

the parts diagram for the fuel tank shows two valves at the bottom of the tank. one a drain and the other needle valve for fuel supply. I also observed a second line going to the tank bottom with no valve. The parts diagram also shows a screen in the tank, with a part number, and after some research it screens fuel for the drain valve,of which i don't understand--
appreciate any opinions on this

That's got a Bosch transfer pump,I have seen a hair causing the problem you are having, check the valve under the priming piston.if that one out of the three is held open by the slightest bit of debris it can cause the pump to draw air.

it doesn't have a priming pump--I believe only the older ones did, the transfer pump is made by Mitsubishi and I replaced the 3 little plastic check valves in it

Bet the pump has a triangular base with a three bolt mounting, might have Mitsubishi stamped on it but it would be made under licence from Bosch as nearly all Japanese fuel injection is,the main thing is its up and running again.

yes you got it---but I still have the problem of only 1/2 hr of run time before the fuel pressure drops to zero--shut the engine off for 15 minutes, start it and it goes to 30 psi.seems like a fuel starvation to me

Take the supply line off both ends, under the tank and at the pump, blow it through from the tank end,you may have to remove the shut off valve to make sure there is nothing in it acting like a valve, had some smart as# once put in a clear plastic bag into a tank and I could not see it,every time the tank went low it blocked the outlet,I can't be much help to you, you will just have to go through it.

good idea to drain the tank and remove the valves---you never know what you will find---somebody already changed the drain valve from a ball valve to a radiator type drain valve---i also ordered today a new filter that the parts diagram shows on the drain valve inside the tank---which makes no sense to me!
