Pretty close to bringing home a Case 310G loader. Looking at service manuals. my question is: Are
the service manuals serial number specific, like the parts books are? thanks

Most manuals are going to cover a range of serial numbers so that gives you some leeway. Check Ebay for your manuals. I just got an almost brand new service manual, and parts manual both for a D318 CAT engine off there for about the same price an aftermarket/copy of just the service manual was going to cost me.
