Been thinking of getting a small dozer to have around the farm.i see slot of jd 350 450. And case dozer the same size.was wondering if one was better than the other.

I was a Deere mechanic at three dealerships and almost cannot believe I am saying this. It would be a Case for me. Deere 350 series is too complicated with too many proprietary parts. 450 series is even worse. Both were great machines when not worn out and parts hard to get or way over-priced. That said, I still own a 1960 Deere 1010 crawler that has been a great machine and in some ways, is better then the 350 series that replaced it. IF the reverser blew tomorrow however, I would sell it or scrap it. Hard to beat a Case 350, or even an older 310. I still use my old Oliver HG a lot and that has the same transaxle as a Cases 310 or 350.

I HAVE HAD SOME JOHN DEERE CRAWLERS. IF YOU CAN FIND A GOOD 2010 THEN I WOULD SAY BUY IT. I DO THINK THE CASE IS BETTER. THE 1010 IS A GOOD ONE BUT LKE THE MAN SAID IF THE REVERSER GOES OUT SCRAP IT. The main thing in finding an old dozer is how it has been used and kept up mechanically. Buy on from someone who has owned it for a long time. there are good ones out there. just got to find them. Use the net to check for parts availability and comments on a dozer you find. good luck.

I run heavy equipment all my life... especially dozers big and small . Deere all the way for me! You get what you want it's your money.. but I'll stick with Deere.

I own two 450 Case Dozers and a 450 Case crawler loader and a 580C Case Backhoe . I have operated 450 John Deere Dozers and Loaders. I did and do not like John Deere , the tractors are over priced , the parts are over priced and used parts are hard to come by . John Deere is powerful . I will take the 450 Case over JD. It is easy to get engine rebuild kit and other after market parts at much lower price . I have bought many used quality parts for my tractors . Case is so much easier to work on also .

IIRC a 450 case is more equal to a 350 John Deere.

I do however like the 450 case with it's high and lo track drives as this lets you push under full power around a turn. With the Deere when you pull back on the lever to turn you disengage that sides drive and apply a brake so only one track has power.

Same year and equal size they are the same . The old 450 John Deere and 450 Case were the about equal . Back in the 70's after that John Deere seemed to make the 450D much larger than the case 450 B and C .
