Case 1530B Uniloader

I bought this 1971 model from
Minnesota. It has 1300 hrs. The problem
is not steering well and unable to go
up inclines. It couldn't drive up my
trailers ramps. I measured the drive
belt. It's 1.2 inches wide. New belts
are 1.81 inches. Could this wear that
much and cause slipping and turning
problems? I can't tell if the variable
speed pulley is adjusting when moving
the lever. Any suggestions are
appreciated. Overall the machine is in
great shape and runs well. Thanks
Larry

Looking at the marks on your vs pulley and the fact that the belt is so worn I'd think it's slipping and vs isn't working. I think if you remove the seat then carefully get in and run the vs lever up and down you should see if it's working. It's under the seat. I guess it could also be the drive clutches slipping or maybe the brakes binding or parking brake on if it has one.

That belt if it is the correct size will still run a long time, looks to me you have no variable movement at all, as the shined up place tells the tale,
