Fix it or part it?

I have an older jd 300 diesel backhoe. Bad
block and crank, and rough. I need a loader
tractor, is this even worthy of fixing,
or seek a trade? I posted on jd forum too,
it's a twin shifter, straight trans. It was
a handy machine Till it was loaned out,and
quit on him.

If you look around you can find these older back hoes for around 4-5000. Just have to be patient, but I wouldn't buy a diesel. When you check for the cost of parts to fix that one it will scare you. If for daily use I can see a diesel but not just for some one to use it once in awhile. I have an international 340 I have had for several years. not real powerful but suits me for what I need it to do. If your patient you will find a ford or early case models cheaper than you can fix that one up. just my 3 cents worth.
