Cat 20 valve springs

I have a 1932 Cat 20 8C-37. It is the same motor as the Cat 15 PV-1 with a different governor. I can spin the valve springs with my fingers when the valve is closed. To replace them correctly I need the spec sheet for the springs including spring free length, wire diameter, spring diameter, test height and pounds pressure at test height. Any of this info would help, thanks! chuck.

For a big 'ol slow turning engine like this you are overthinking the situation UNLESS the valve springs have been severely heated, badly rusted, or otherwise known to be damaged, IMHO.

It is common to shim valve springs when valve wear and a bit of seat recession make the valve springs a bit loose. Any good automotive machine shop should know about this and have access to valve spring shims.

Thanks for the linky and your response! I have over_comtemplated the use of shims and decided not. Springs have been installed for 85 years which doesn't mean any are bad except for the three I found loose. Chad at antique crawler parts is willing to send me used springs but I only want what I need and he has no spec's on free length either..........thanks, chuck.
