Allis Chalmers HD 16 DC

Can anyone tell me anything on a HD 16 DC dozer. I am looking at it and trying to figure out year and HP.

Well in the late 50 and 60s they were real round over the radiator up there what you call the hard nose. Military had a lot of them. Then later ones called Fiat Allis were square looking over the radiator and hard nose. Get a picture or a serial number and we can tell you more. Meant to be a d 7 cat size machine and for most part were but they were never great sellers.

Some idea of when the run ended

1970 Power Farming Annual (Oz) lists that model as "non-current" in 1967-68, the 16DP similar in 1969-70

While I'm looking at that there was also a similar sized Allis model 350 out of Italy (IIRC Allis took over Vender) also non-current 1969-70

That annual gives 175 engine hp

Thank you JM. I found a Allis Chalmers book on all their models and serial numbers. My HD16DC5272 is showing the following. the D stands for the longer frame. The C denotes it used a torque converter. The serial number 5272 falls into the year 1961. they show 1961 serial numbers began with 5098 and in 1962 the began with 5448. Seeing ranges of HP at the rear from 118 to 168. Must be a difference between the engine HP and the HP at the belt or hitch.

Thank you Ian. Found a book called Allis-Chalmers Farms tractor and Crawler book. On books Google. has a lot of good information in it. Google it and I think you and all the AC fans will see it as a good resource of information on their line of crawlers.
