can anybody recommend a good service and troubleshooting manual for an 873 turbo? buddy has one, its been to 2 bob cat dealers and 2 independant mechanics and they cant fix it. lift and bucket safety controls keep locking the unit out. he spent close to 9 grand and they still havent been able to fix it, so i figure i'll take a crack at it. i dont think i can do any worse.

More than likely the seat,or seat belt interlock causing the problem. Not that I'm recommending it,but the interlock solenoid valves can be removed, lock pins ground off flush, washed out well and reinstalled. Now for the safety Nazi's.....this gives you no interlock, and can be a safety/crushing hazard if the boom or bucket control is moved while getting in or out of the cab while the engine is running.

Yep more than likely the seat, clean the clutter from underneath it and instead of disabling the safety devise make sure its working correctly as we have to do at my place with customers machines, insurance liability etc,you can download the manual in digital form from the link below.

Bobcats had numerous issues with the seat switch as others have stated. So, if it hasn't been updated with the seat delete setup, go ahead and start there. It will come as a kit that consists of a new BICS, and a pushbutton override switch.

I had one having problems that needed the upgrade. I did that first thing, and it fixed 90% of the problem, but it continued to have intermittent issues. What I wound up having to do was to remove each pin, individually, from the connector tying the harness to the BICS, and bend the contact fingers on the pin sockets in to insure a good connection to the male half of the connector in the BICS itself.

I did that several years ago and the guy hasn't had any issues with any of that since.

Good luck.

thanks for the tips!!! they dropped the machine off late yesterday and the bucket controls are locked out. i plan on downloading the manual and start checking. the last thing that was replaced was the right stick control head . over a grand for that. didnt help.
