where is the shuttle cover plate located on a 73 580 b case backhoe? Need to check screen for blockage. And any instructions would be great. thanks

The pickup and pump is attached to the cover under the control valve,if the reason you are wanting to look at the screen is because the pump lost its prime and not building up pressure an old trick was to fill the shuttle right up to the top so the pump will be submerged in oil, start the engine on low idle and see if it builds pressure,if so drain the excess oil down to the level,if not drain all the oil out, remove the cover and establish what is wrong,if you need a manual go to the link below where I have uploaded a manual for another guy,you are welcome to download a copy or anyone else that wants one

Thanks, I think it is plugged because when it gets warmed up good, it will not go forward and backwards. I stillam not sure where it is located. Is it under the gas tank with all the lines going to it? It looks like about three layers of plates .

Yes that sounds like it is not making pressure but it should be the other way about if the strainer was blocked as the oil is thicker when cold and thinner when hot,the pump could be worn and the problem would be notable for for some time,I think the valve, cover.pump and strainer will come up in one piece, attached is a scan from the parts book.
