Massey 2500 forklift transmission trouble

I have a Massey 2500 forklift with the instant reverse transmission that just stopped moving. It was working fine and had lots of power in both directions. I was moving on the level with no load, went to change directions and it wouldn't go in either direction. Didn't hear any strange noises. I checked the linkages and everything looks ok. I read that the lever that goes through the bell housing that works the direction valve gets loose and can cause trouble. Mine is loose, but I unhooked it and can feel resistance in either direction like it is moving the valve spool. I don't know where to go from here. I have a shop manual, but there is no troubleshooting info. The manual covers all the stuff about disassembly, and reassembly etc., but no info on pressure testing. Does anyone have any diagrams on the pressure testing points and required pressures? Seems like I lost oil pressure. The oil level is up where it should be. Any ideas?

Might check the safety coupling that drives the differential pinion shaft, it could be sheared. It can be seen through the diff case side six bolt hole covers. If the cotter pin has fallen out of the coupler that holds it in place shaft assembly will shorten up to lose the drive also. Cotter pin is across the shaft end when installed correctly.
