the bucket curl cyclinders,,, (top cyclinders,, not lift) I can curl up, good power, (not much fade, some with extreme weight) but absolutely no down power, none,, gravity only to kurl bucket down... im assuming this is the seals in the cyclinders,, the hydraulics seem to be working alright,, idk,, never rebuilt those cycliners,, ive had this lil dozer a lot of yrs.

For what it's worth, try to isolate the problem, could be valve problem or a collapsed inside the hydraulic hose blocking the flow of oil or cylinder problem. It's best done with a gauge attached to the system at each junction to determine where you loose the pressure. If you do not have a gauge, switch the hoses at the valve and the tee's to the curl cylinders. If the problem moves with the switch, I would suspect a plugged hose. If it stays with the down function as original, switch the hoses at the tee only and try again. If the problem then switches to the curl up then the valve is at fault, if not then the problem is in the cylinders.

thanx,, if it proves to be the cyclinders, anyone know where to get the seals, besides going to the hyd. shop? guess you could get them from jd.

FYI you can go to the free online JD parts web site and look up the part numbers for the cylinder by the model # of the loader on your tractor and then call dealer or sign up with a local dealer and do an online price check if they are still available, most are. How ever 9/10 times a hdy shop are cheaper. However my gut instinct says their is a problem with the hose or valve. If both functions operated equally then I'd think the cylinder but you say the lift is okay.

I pulled the top line on the curl/tilt cycl. with the tractor running,,, got oil comin when I tilt forward,, and I saw the other side moving/very little or weak,, I know it sounds crazy that they would work one way and not the other. Im pulling the pins, got the bottom/front loose, now try up at the top near the driver,,, this thing is from mi.,, can hardly believe I got the bottom apart..(one side) wouldn't be doing this if I knew how to take apart the cyclinders,, looks like I will be bringing the whole things to the hyd. shop, . they will charge me plenty,,

The fact that it picks up strong just about eliminates the cylinder packing. Seems to me to be that you linkage is not moving the spool in the valve to the down position .....or as the other poster has said you have a flap or obstruction in a down line. HOWEVER that would have to be back close to the valve as both cylinders act the same. BEST thing to do is this. remove BOTH work lines from the valve the up and down. Rig some type line , even a short piece of garden hose to a five gallon bucket. Now with both the up and down in your bucket start the machine and move the lever to the down position then the up position. You are going to see good flow in the up position and nothing or near nothing in the down position.. I am betting. IF ever thing is good after that check go to the cylinders and curl them in. then remove the in line and try letting it out.

jm, brings out a very good point.. make sure the linkage to the valve is not so sloppy that it is not moving the valve to the full extent, in and out..

It would be my guess that the trouble is that the port valve has an issue seeing its one movement only, establish on the valve chest which section is the crowd/tilt by moving the lever, the port valve for tipping the bucket is at the opposite end of the section from where the control lever connects to the spool, just above the back of the spool you will see a hexagon plug that is the port valve, with the engine stopped and the bucket on the ground relieve the pressure in the system and remove the valve, check the o'rings on the body if ok dismantle the valve to see if the spring is broke or something holding it open.
