This might be a machine that is a little "new" for this site, but I've always found a wealth of knowledge on here and its worth asking. Helping a friend with his E110B (s/n prefix 9HF, engine SK4 prefix), he said he had an external coolant leak on the same side as the injection pump. We got a look at it last weekend and found it appears the aluminum cover has oxidized away in a small section. See the picture. I'm not exactly sure how this would have happened since its aluminum and wouldn't really rust, but even aluminum will oxidize over time. Has anybody seen this or know anything about these excavators? The oil cooler plate will need replaced, and assuming the injection pump will need to come off to get to it. If anyone has experience let me know. Thanks, Nate.
