NCwayne valve opinion please

I just finished a valve job for a Allis-Chalmers 3500 in a 7060. The rotators were on the intake valves and the exhaust had standard retainers. I don't understand this. I had seen rotators on ALL the valves in other cases, but had never seen the exhaust valves left to fend for themselves. Any ideas? Thanks, Fritz

I've seen many engines with and without rotators on either the intake, exhaust. That said I've never messed with any of the 3500 series AC engines, but Dad worked for the AC dealer years ago, and has worked on more of them than I can count.

I'll ask him tomorrow what his take on it is.

I finally got a chance to talk to Dad this afternoon. He said, and I confirmed in one of the service manuals, that A/C seemed to think they had a better idea when they put the rotators only on the intake valves.

Dad said he had never seen, nor heard a reason for it, it was something that just was.....
