I don't know where you are from but a friend here in Minnesota found out that he needed 4 load binders to haul his skid steer, one going each way from each end. His lesson only cost him $400. He had loaded the machine, chained the front, backed it until the chains were tight, then used two binders on the rear. There was no way the machine was going to move as he had it chained but the DOT inspector still taught him the lesson.

Your thro out bearing is going thru or past the clutch fingers. Most times when that happens it will not come back but in any advent you are going to have to go into the tractor.

Pull the square cover on the top of the housing / round plugs and look down in. Clutch is shot if the throw-out bearing is at the bottom of the carrier, IE closest to the transmission. The fingers on the pressure plate move out (get taller) as the clutch wears. You may be able to adjust the throw out bearing, if it is not all the way out. If that's not possible, then you need to go in to the final drive. IMHO you need the service manual to guide you along the way. Their are great resources out their, free JD parts on line web site and www.jdcrawler.com ..

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the info. Next question(s), see attached pic. Is this a bearing issue or an issue with the fingers on the pressure plate? How do I replace. I see the upper cover and side cover, can it be replaced thru either one of these covers? Or, do I have to remove the track, sprocket and that entire outer housing? And, where is the best place to source parts?

I appreciate all the help.

Very good info. I found the parts manual online for this machine, or at least I think I did. Is there a service manual online I can print off? Link?

I will try to get some pics inside that upper cover today. Hopefully you can tell me if it has any adjustment left in it. Currently the machine is sitting outside, was going to run and get some 2 x 10's today to drive it into my shop so I can work on it.

Thanks
