JD401 trenching bucket

I have a 70's vintage JD 401 backhoe with a 24"digging bucket. I would like to find a 12" trenching bucket and a wider grading bucket for it. I know nothing about dirt-moving machinery; how will I know what mounts will fit? Are all JD mounts the same? Will only JD buckets fit this machine or will a Case bucket fit? Educate me please.

Thanks in advance.

all JD mounts are not the same & Case will not fit. I had a 401 made in France (chassis), Germany (motor)& England (cab). You have to make a very accurate plywood or cardboard pattern off yours to check against other buckets. Ditching buckets are rare. Best way I know to get them is attend the big week-long equipment auctions in Florida this Feb. They will have dozens of buckets of all sizes.

There is a magazine called the Parts Book, it is book of salvage yards for construction equipment. Had real good luck getting JD parts through there listings.
