I'm looking for a used crowd/stick cylinder rod or a complete cylinder assembly for a Ford 550 backhoe. Any help will be appreciated. I'm located in middle GA. Thanks, GA Jim

Take your old one and run up to Bailey Hydraulics there in Knoxville. They can make anything you need and not bad prices..800 800 1820 call them and give them demissions and they will give you an estimate.

Jim, that should be the same 15' hoe that's on a 4500, that might help in your search.
Have you checked about just having a new rod made? There's nothing special about that one.

you might give these guys a call, then there's T&L down in Pavo,GA

Not sure what part of middle Ga you are in but I have had Dixie Machine Shop in Dublin work on hydraulic cylinders for me and have have been well pleased. Their number is 478-272-8210. Sid

JM. Thanks, I'll also give them a call. I have a mountain place in Western NC about 15 miles east of the TN line, so they are not that far away in Knoxville. GAJim

Been doing business with them for over 30 years and they are absolutely the best place to go for cylinder parts. First class place and priced right.

Thanks everybody for your help. I got lucky and there is no damage to the cylinder itself and the the rod can be repaired by a machine shop. So, I will not have to source a replacement cylinder assembly or cylinder rod. GAJim

I have used Dixie Machine & Tool for several hydraulic cylinder repairs on my Dig-It TLB. They do very nice and dependable work. They always have the needed parts in stock and are usually cheaper than the OEM parts. I had a swing cylinder that the piston rod needed to be straightened and the threaded end repaired. OEM price for parts and shipping was almost $300.00 They straightened the piston rod and bored the end of it and turned a replacement threaded end to go in it. After the repair of the rod they repacked it and the bill was a good bit less than the OEM parts and much quicker also.

Weldon Payne owns it and his father W.O. (Woody) Payne owned and operated it for many years before retiring. Both of them are top notch machinist with years of experience
