Case 1840 uniloader cab reinstallment

I had to recently slide the cab forward to remove the
blown head; now that head's rebuilt and put back in,
I need to slide the cab back into place. The cab isn't
completely removed; its only slid forward to the
steering bars; is there a way that one person can
slide the cab back into place and bolt it down with a
come-along? I don't have a hoist and I don't have
another machine to lift the cab to set it into place. I
tried using the loader arms with the come-along but
the cab slides forward and not back toward the
engine like I need it to. Please tell me and how
these cabs are usually put back into place.

Gabsgrammy,

I've got an 1838, which should be similar. There's no need for a tug. That cab rolls forward and back easy. Is there a rod that may have been missed? Perhaps you have bent a control connection and that now prevents you from getting the cab back.

I can look at mine, but if I remember right, there were 2 rods per hand control, four bolts attached to the cage, and a single throttle rod. All had a type of quick connection.

I hope this helps, it's been a few years since I last did that.

Good luck,

D.

Did you take the throttle rod,2 drive control rods off tandem pump also need to disconnect brakes and likage for aux hydraulics at foot pedal and a couple of other things before cab is moved forward. If this was done cab should move sometime they do bind hydraulic pedal likes to get stuck between cab and frame when going back together.hope this helps any other? Just ask
