(quoted from post at 19:21:48 11/28/16) Insley model H67000 coming up to auction any parts still available and is this a decent machine ?
Never heard of an Insley H67000 , is it a Crane or Hyd . Hoe .

Insley is no longer made, and I have no clue who would be a dealer for parts, if any were available.

That said, these machines were build using relatively common components. For instance many had Detroit engines, and parts for those are readily available. The majority of the time the hydraulic pumps were also made by another party and are reparable by that company.

Things like hydraulic lines wouldn't be a problem, unless they are steel. Even then those can often be brazed up, or remade if needed. The soft lines, of course, are not an issue at all.

The only problem would be any propriatlry components like a swing shaft, swing gear, or other part that would more than likely be specific to that machine.

Regardless of any of that, if it runs, if it's going for a fair price, and you take care of it, it ought to last you a long time.

Slower than molasses, at least the 1000 model was. I can't decide which was worse to run an old Bucyrus-Erie with the 555 Cummins or one of these. The old Kobelco air over hydraulic was another older one I ran that would run circles around either.
They have crane carbody type pads with no grouser bar. The one in the auction does not look too bad from the photos, if runs/operates, can be had cheap, might be ok on a farm or something. The 1000 I ran was tough to get used to if you ran modern ones, the control linkages were worn and jammed up on me when on a road job, boom and stick locked up in the upward motion and I bailed out before it went into the power lines we were under, no sense in fighting it and barely enough time to think, or even shut it down as we had to work under them uncomfortably close to take the road down 12" before rebuilding it. I had hoped it would have fried this 1000. Lousy outfit too, I left because all of their trucks and equipment were unsafe and not maintained they way they should be, my last gig with them was driving an Autocar tandem dump and they were only about 6 years old, brakes shot, tires questionable, almost t-boned some lady when it would not stop near Passaic, NJ. He kept calling the house for days after I stopped showing up. I left and went with a much better outfit so as to have a better chance of coming home every night !
