TSC has an add for Hyd oil that says only for tractors after 1974 -what will happen if I put it in my 1966 Case 580 ck ?

the year of the tractor has nothing to do with which hyd oil to use. the application has everything to do with it. cheap oil is a waste of money. If you need oil its probably leaking and cheap oil will leak like a river. I have a case w7d loader. main lift cylinders leak very badly and if i use cheap oil under a load it comes out the seals as fast as i pour it in. the auto trans requires TDH (stands for trans, diff, and hydraulic) If i use this good oil it still leaks but more like cup fulls rather than gallons. I have a 404 farmall requires TDH. the hydraulic resevoir is the rearend housing. Find out what your tractor NEEDS.

Case recommend TCH in the hydraulics, torque converter and power steering, any generic HyTrans oil like Mobil HD 10W or its equivalent will do fine,Like the other poster says cheap oil is not an economic option, fix the leaks.

I disagree that the year has nothing to do with it. Cat recommends mineral oil for gear boxes on old machines as the bearing material is susceptible to the sulfuric acid that develop in the GL-1-5 gear oils when water gets in.
Check your maintenance manual recommendations for your machine

The question was understood,Case like Cat and many other brands changed over to using the one type oil in all power train, steering and hydraulics, except the engines, the original recommended oil can differ quite a bit, personally myself I would rather to use the original recommended oils as that was what those old machines were tested on.
