D2 Stuck Steering clutch

I've got a 1948 D2 with a stuck right steering clutch. There is not resistance on the clutch lever, which is what I was expecting if the clutch was stuck, that there would be spring resistance when you pull on the level. However the lever is just loose and flops back and forth. Looking at the clutch bearing yoke I can tell the left one is out further than the right one....and the left one works just fine. I've driven it and also boroscoped the housing of both. No movement on the right one. Does this mean that there is rust built up in the discs on the right one so that its allowed the bearing to move but still won't let the clutches slip? I put about 1-1/2 gallons of diesel in the cavity in hopes that might free some things up....but I'm also prepping myself for an eventual removal.....thanks, Nate

let it soak in the diesel for a while---then hook up to something that will pull hard--a disc, plow or another machine--tie that lever back and run it hard while braking hard--it may free up the discs that are rusted and swollen

Try to tighten the adjustment to see if you can get resistance, if so tighten as much as possible, drain and ride brake to create heat. If there is no resistance it might be a failed throwout bearing, if so you are screwed, it will have to come apart.

When ever grandpa had one of his stick over winter he would pour some gas in there and run it for a bit. It would free up plowing then drain the gas out. You also need to pull the plugs on the bottom and drain the cavity occasionally to keep oil from building up in there from the seals seeping while setting. They are a larger plug with a hex hole in them.
