New to me 1949 Cletrac AG6H

Hello all,

I recently picked up a AG6H at an auction. All of my experience lies with old fords, so this is quite a change for me. I purchased the instructions manual and the parts book for it from Zimmermans. My intention is that my first project will be draining and replacing all fluids before freeze up here in West MI.

I'm really not sure what I have other than what I found on the serial number tag and that it's an old state owned fire dozer.

Are these things great machines? Duds? Hard to find Parts? All opinions and suggestions welcome so that I can get a feel for what I have. There's a lot less resources for these compared to fords. Thanks in advance!

My first tractor was an AG with 4 cyl Hercules. You have the 6 cyl continental, wide gauge too. I could be a good tractor if it is in good condition. I would not want to put a lot of money into repairs. Have you been to www.cletrac.org?

Yes I have. I posted on their website and haven't heard anything back yet. It runs and moves, but other than that I don't know a ton about it in terms of what I have. I didn't pay much for it...less than 700$.

The way I heard it Hercules engines were in high demand during WW2 so Cletrac put Continental 6 cyl engines instead. They are both 226 cu in. They also put a Hercules Diesel and a Budha Diesel in the same tractor. They were pretty tough tractors. They are not as highly thought of as other makes, probably because of the dif steering. Mine was standard gauge but I used to farm hills with it. I always wanted to try a wide gauge. Does yours have a blade? Got any pictures?
