case 450b track loader injection pump

Mine is still on and running, just not idling or accelerating properly.I adjusted the valves and replaced the injectors. The compression is good,Engine runs perfectly in mid range however breaks up a little at full throttle.I wondered if the transfer pump is failing? thanks peter

The weight retainer ring is failing causing the trouble you describe. I could repair your pump for less than you could find another used one for that most likely be in the same or worse condition.. Time for a simple reseal job. Find a pump repair man you are comfortable with and send her in. Dont be fooled by the ones who quote you staggering high prices. High price doesnt mean good job, just more money. Be careful of the one who will do it cheap. Quality work takes time so if the price is low, something is being skipped over. expect 350-450 to get the job done. Ask questions, check on warranties. Some guys give 30 days. For guys who work a full time job and play on the week ends they may burn the 30 days up before ever getting it installed and checked out. My warranty is for 1 year. Ask about other perks not just the pump. For example If I repair a pump for you I will clean test and reset your nozzles for free. This helps out the guy who doesnt really know what for sure is his problem. This way when he gets the pump and nozzles back he can install them knowing his high pressure fuel system is 100% spot on. No guessing. Is it the pump? Maybe it is the nozzles? Ask about turn around time also. Sometimes you can wait ?? weeks, sometimes you would like it sooner. I try to turn them out in a few days. If I need to find a new or rebuilt head, or a not so popular part it takes a little longer. Keep in mind experience also. I know a guy who bought out a complete pump shop. Hired a kid fresh from a six week school to build pumps. Not sure I would pick him. Takes time to get good at what you do. No substitute for experience. Also, be mindful of picking the first guy to answer the phone or return an email. Just how much work can they get done if their right there waiting for your call? A shop that is busy most times does good work. Take you time and ask questions. Tons of good guys out there. Pick the one that works for you. Good luck,,, Al 231/757/0064
