I have a 412b scraper that needs some maintenance. I don't have any manuals but I need to know what type of fluid to add to the transmission and how much oil the engine holds?
Thank you,
Scott

Scott it has a dt466 ih engine, same as some of the tractors, trucks, and td15c dozer. All of which I have owned and I am thinking about 3 gallon but I will check the manual and get you and answer. There are folks the will argue to hell and back on what to put in the transmission but for years we have run just the cheapest straight 30 wt oil we can find. 10 wt or tractor hydraulic fluid seems to leak more and not work the elevator as well when things heat up. I have full set of books, parts, operators, and owners for the 412 .

Thinking about it I think DFW is right but will be where I can check the book Monday Morning.

Thanks for the replies! I bought this 412 cheap just to move some dirt on my little farm and it works great. I was just going to use it till I was done but because it runs & works so well I figured I would change out the fluids and finish up my job then maybe sell it for a profit!

412 is a lot better than its prior model the e 200. The engine and 4 speed transmission make the difference. Selling it for a profit may be hard. The selfloading scraper market has been flat to nothing in the last several years. Folks just do not use them like they use to.
where are you located"?That one is a good looking scrapper.

'm about an hour out of Atlanta. I've got about $8500 in it (including transport costs) which was much less than I was quoted for the work I'm using it for. I'm trying to work a deal to swap it out for the finish grading work. We'll see what happens.

I got in touch with the Komatsu dealer this morning and they said straight 10W or 30W fluid is what is recommended. I needed the engine oil capacity so I would know what size drain pan was needed. Nothing like draining 7 gallons into a 5 gallon pan (not that I've ever done that). :)
