580ck 3rd gear seems weak

I recently bought a used case 580k. It was from a local fella down the road from me. Only leak was a steering cylinder (seal), no welds or cracks, all glass was good, tires worn about 60% left, no busted buckets or anything like that, all greased, guy took pretty good care of it. Used it in a his sand pit and for crushing and loading cars.
Anyhow I bought it, brought it home and haven't used too much as winter came on. I used it 3 times so far for snowplowing when my plowtruck was down and during this time I noticed the 3rd gear range was weak in my opinion. Pushing snow in second is easy and fourth isn't possible. I thought pushing snow in 3rd would be alright but when in third I stand on the fuel pedal and it takes a bit of time to get moving and forget about going up a slight grade in 3rd.

I checked the transaxle fluid from in the cab and the fluid looks/smells/level is good.

Is there something else I can check on this rig? It's actually a pretty handy machine. Should have got one years ago! lol

I'm not too sure. This machine has a 4 gear shift on the right side of the chair and the forward reverse shuttle shift on the steering column. There's not clutch pedals or anything like that.

There was no documents with the machine when I picked it up.

I took it to my brothers house yesterday to do some work and the thing couldn't climb the grade of the road. Had to stop halfway up, shift to neutral on the forward and reverse shifter, than shift the transmission to 2nd gear and than put it in forward and than finish climbing the grade. Flats or downhill third gear works okay but doesnt feel confident.

I see other backhoes (mind you they are newer) and they fly all over the place..i'm not drag racing but itd be nice to not take half an hour to drive across town lol

Common compliant,if the wheels spin in first gear while loading the front bucket that is about as it gets.

You say a 580CK-Do you know what series or about what year model it is. B series had a torque tube setup. Everything was enclosed inside a housing. C series and up have separate housings with a drive shaft. Does yours have drive shaft?

It doesnt quite spin the front tires but it loads very quite easily.....i'll leave it be for the now...i mean everything works as it should....so fair enough....thanks
man!!
