JD 310C Hyd Pump Coupler

The coupler or hydraulic drive shaft on my JD 310C stripped out this weekend. And if case nobody knows this pretty shuts down the machine. I need to find another one and the best price I found is for a manufactured one. Has anybody had any experience with them, or is it better to just pay the $500 and get a new one? Or does anyone know of someone with an old machine for parts?

How are the pump splines? Will the pump shaft have to be replaced?

Go to www.surpluscenter.com and check to see if they have a splined coupler/sleeve that will fit the pump splines, then have a machine shop accurately cut the bad splines off of your driveshaft and accurately weld the new splined coupler/sleeve to the driveshaft.

Should be able to do all that for less than a $100, I'd think?

(If Surplus Center doesn't have the correct splined coupling/sleeve try Baum Hydraulics in Omaha.)

Thanks, Checked Surplus center and they had a coupler so I have it ordered. And we have a machine shop here at work. So for less than $20 I can have this repaired. Again thanks.

Forgot to say that the splines on the pump look good. I got this machine used and looks like the pump has been replace before so it is in better shape than the drive shaft.

I did the same with a surplus center drive coupler. Just don't go too big as the bottom of radiator is very close. Also make sure the rubber drive cushion is tight, that causes them to wear, lost the replacement spline coupling fast and realized that cushion was loose, replaced it and the spline again and been good for many hours now
