Terex 72-31

Hi.
Is there anyone who has the serial# for a european built Terex 72-31?
I own a very early Terex, from 1968, right in the same time for their name change from Euclid.
It actually has EUC in front of part numbers on all cast/forged parts. So I think it was
nearly built as a Euclid, but sold as a Terex.
Problem is that I dont have the serial number.
Or can someone give me a hint of an early serial number?

Thanks. Dennis

Not sure many people will give out that info not knowing you, there are many scams where people take numbers off a used machine on a dealer lot, post it for sale with pics and then get payment or sizable deposit and disappear. Why would you be missing serial number? Most machines are stamped well, unless machine is stolen and you know better than to go to the dealer with that serial number....either way even if I had machine model in question I don't think I would be handing out the serial number online to just anyone

Hi.
I can understand your concern. But the problem is that I dont have the serial on this machine.
I have owned it for over 10 years. And I never ever known what serial it is.
And that gives me some trouble when I want to buy parts from Terex. I have a parts catalog from serial 48101 and to 58000 something.
And that is for US built machines.
Most parts fit, but some dont.
Maybe you can tell me where to look after the stamped number?
Terex told me that the US built machines would have numbers stamped on the left side, just below the lift arm. Cant find anything there.
Another source told me to look on the left side of the frame, just behing the articulation point. Found nothing.
On my spare parts machine, I found A3460 on that place, but is that a European serial? I dont know.

If you search for Terex 72-31 in this forum, you can find out that I have asked about this several times before.

Thanks. Dennis

I run into issues like this all the time on older equipment and can usually work it out with the dealership as they should know the serial number range for the machines in question. Other than the occasional break where something minor changed, it usually works pretty well.

What kind of parts are you needing? I ask because those machines had Detroit engines (4-71), I believe it was an Allison transmissions, and the axels were another common name brand if I recall correctly.

That being the case, parts for any of the major engine/drivetrain components can come from the origional mfgs. About the only things left would be cylinders, etc, and packing for them would best be matched at a hydraulics shop.

That being said, your best bet on a serial number would be to do a search for 72-31 Terex and find some for sale, or being parted out. I did a quick search and found a few, but not knowing exactly what you've got I wouldn't know which one to tell you to look at. Good luck.

Wasn't trying to beat you up, just saying why it may be troublesome to get a serial number, many online adds don't even list it anymore because of that. Good luck and sorry I'm not familiar with that machine. One other option can be looking for transmission, axle or other component numbers and finding the date they were made which should narrow it to a range that the dealer can know what serial number breaks there were
