Are there two styles of piston liners?

Piston liners seem to either be ringed for o-rings or intended for the o- rings to be in the block. I think I have the wrong liners but does anyone really understand these?

Are the blocks different? Are the liners interchangeable? It is sunday so I have to wait til tomorrow to call but I am afraid I have received the wrong liners for my John deere 450.

Any comments would be appreciated.

The old ones have groves for the o-rings and the new ones don't and according to the description for the new ones from the internet they are for o-rings in the block. I am concerned that I will need to return them for the other style.

I received the wrong sleeves for my 219 engine in my JD 2520 tractor. Company then sent the other type. I assume if not exactly the same, your engine is basically the same as mine.

There are actually 3 types of liners for 450 engine , the one

you did not mention has a shoulder for crevice seal .
