1968 IH 150 Loader

So I have a 1968 loader 150 with the Drott 4n1. I'm having trouble with what I believe is the hydraulic system on the transmission side. I'll do my best to describe what it is as I have been unsuccessful at finding the part in the manuels that I have. When looking at the machine from the front, the part in question is on the right hand side at the very rear of the machine. Behind the pressure filter which is located next to the range selector valve is a cover with what looks like a spring with 4 3/4" or 7/8" retainer bolts around 18" long. The problem I'm having is when I go to turn the engine over, hydraulic fluid is pouring out from something at the base of the spring. I haven't been able to identify what it is or exactly where it's coming from. I can't get the cover off of the machine yet. We built a homemade Rops and its bolted to the top of this cover. I know it's a shot in the dark but any help is greatly appreciated. I'll post pictures tomorrow when I get a chance.

Ok so I was thumbing through the Drott equipment Manuel I have and I found a diagram of the hydro spring. The spring is broken in a few different spots, but the fluid is leaking from the very bottom of the cylinder?

The spring is a cushion for the loader lift circuit and can be turned on or off with a valve at the base of the spring if I remember right. So if it was turned off it may not leak. If your spring is broken it is not doing what it was intended for anyway. New spring and seals may be in order if available.

Go to the in and out and just plum them together. Within 10 years most of them were bypassed. You will never know the difference and if you can keep it running long enough to do much work you will be lucky. Ever one I ever saw had a busted head and final drives shell like toothpicks.
