HD3 Allis track release lock

Does anyone know how the track release lock works on an HD3 Allis crawler ? Have looked at a diagram on Minn Par pdf but it still does not make sense to the novice ??

Loosen the two I think 9/16" bolts on the plate by the 1 1/2" hex rod one is above and one is below the hex coming from the tension spring. They are just behind the front idler yoke. They don't need to come out but they do need to be loose which can be a bugger if all rusted up. Then just turn the big 1 1/2" hex rod. You might once you get them loose pull them out and put some anti-seize on them before tightening them back up, or replace them with new with the anti-seize.
