JD 450E transmission problems after 2 to 3 hours of use

I have a JD 450 dozer that works fine for 2 to 3 hours but then the high forward will not engage. Is this a clutch problem.

If I recall, there is a bung on top of the transmission case, remove it and find a 1/8 NPT plug, remove that. Thread a 300 PSI gauge in there for a test. Run the machine at high RPM, Transmission gears in neutral. Record pressure in H-L-and R, Psi should be the same. About 135 psi.
If not good PSI, get a manual and try Psi adjustment. If adjusts OK or is OK, continue.
Run/work the machine until the problem shows up. Re-test as above. Chances are, if the high psi is lower than the L and R, The seal rings and manifold that are inside the transmission are leaking/bypassing as the oil gets hot and thins out. .Tear down for repair/rebuild

Thank You. It works for the first few hours when fluid is cooler and the viscosity is thicker so that makes since to check the PSI. What puzzles me is no change in transmission temp during the two hours. Thank you, i'll check the PSI.
