Fitting a Backhoe and / or Ripper

GD's MF300

New User
I"m hoping to fit a pto driven backhoe attachment to my 1975 Massey Ferguson MF300 dozer and wonder if anyone can answer the following:

1. Can a MF300 be fitted with a PTO?

2. Would the flow rate of the pump that provides fluid to the cylinder of the ripper be adequate to run a backhoe?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a ripper for my dozer.

Thanks for your help.

pto dont think so never seen one to run a backhoe you have to run it off the main supply the goes to your dozer control. you can not run it off the ripper line it is not a constent flow line it only has pressure when you move the leaver

marloweg, thanks for your insight. Any idea where I might track down a ripper?

your best luck would be just checking the brakers. i never had a 300 with a ripper on have a case 450 with one on and a 450 with a backhoe on . ripper for a 300 will be hard to find a lot of that stuff went to china went scrap was so high

marloweg, I suspect you are right about things going for scrap but just hoping to get lucky.

I'm not in a rush so I'll just keep searching the web and contacting wreckers. Would appreciate it if anyone would let me know if they stumble across one.

Thanks

Two different issues here the valve for the ripper should be in the blade control block, look and see if you got a spare valve [lever] the backhoe should be plumbed in using the loop method with quick break couplings to make it easy to put on and off, look at the badly done sketch to give you an idea what's to be done.

AJ, thanks very much for sharing your insight. Your sketch makes things very clear. Much appreciated!

Do you think the flow rate of the pump, fluid temp or reservoir capacity is cause for concern when running a backhoe?

Thanks again.

Yes if the blade raises up nice and lively the pump should have high enough of a flow,I do not know the specs for the pump,it would need to be in the region of 25 US gallons a minute,it is probably stamped on the pump.
