MF 300 track adjuster

GD's MF300

New User
Hello! I just bought MF300 dozer from a real decent fellow who had the machine about 6 years. Says it hasn't been used much the last 3. He put a new starter, fuel lift pump, and new fuel filter and housing on it last fall. The worst part about it is the track adjuster on the right side. The grease seals must have gone in it, because it had plates welded to it to hold the idler wheel out when he got it. The pads, sprockets , chains and all rollers are in good shape with plenty of life left. Seems to steer good, with good power.

I've heard parts are near impossible to find so I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions for dealing with the track adjuster? I would really like to get in functioning properly.

Thanks

Pretty good chance that if you can get it off and apart BAUM IRON can match up the parts required. Not sure but the parts required may be metric. I think some of the Masseys were Hanamog made overseas.

i have had 4 MF300 over the years you will have to bust the track and pull the adjuster out if only the seal is shot that is a easy fix but i did have trouble with the end of the piston blowing out it has a welded cap on the end that the weld will brake if the track gets bound up because it was over tighten.the adjuster is nothing more then a hyd.cylinder that you pump grease in to that pushes the front idler wheel forward to release you just bleed grease out i think it takes a 3/4 socket under the grease zerk.i will look if i have a piston seal in the shop

Thanks jm. I was hoping that might be the case.

marloweg, I won't be able to touch the machine for the 3 or 4 weeks so if you don't mind, I'll wait till then to call . This will give me a chance to get a little more up to speed on what I'm working on and I'll be able to go at it right after we talk. Thanks kindly!

the 300 was not made by Hanamag 400 on up was. 300 was made if i recall ICM [not sure of letters] in Italy
