Noticed on my 1280 that the drive sprocket is turning inside of the sprocket on the one side that dosent turn!Question? Can a person weld it to the shaft since I cant seem to find a sprocket anymore for it or do you think this is a bad idea? What other options do I have on an older machine that parts are not available anymore?Thankyou for any help you can offer!!Dave A

I thought the 1280 was nothing but a drott 35/40 final. Always called a Dana 4 gear final. Does you shaft run on two large pillow blocks. Sprocket splined to the shaft? I HAVE had to drill two holes in between the sprocket and shaft and drive in 5/8 steel roll pins, but only to get one out to hard ground where we could take it to the shop. Welding it will sure make replacement hard.

When I look for parts, should I ask for the parts off a droit as the case parts # dosent get me anywhere! Also would the 2 pins drilled last very long as an alternative to welding?Dave a

You get about a day out of the roll pin fix and I am not CERTAIN but yes I think the drott final is the same. Call Shaffer Enterprises Wolf Lake Ill, 800 626 6046 If anybody can help you on parts they can,

If I remember right Drott 50/50B was same as Case 1280 but there were quite a few changes in the final drive area over the years.
good luck finding what you need.
General Gear in Boise, Id may be worth a call. They are on the net.
