D7e brake drum question?The right hand side drum looks nice and smooth but the left side drum has wear to it farly good grove!Will the new break bands still work with this groved condition or will I have to replace it?To replace would be spendy for sure!It had the tubular rivets should I go to brass onesThanks,Dave A

i would think that the brass rivets would be a better choice-=the band will still work with the groove but may wear a little bit quicker than the smoother side--if you can find a machine shop with a lathe that can cut the drum a bit to smooth it out that would help

That is a common problem when the brake wears down to the rivets. Reline the brake bands and use the brass rivets. The band will wear in eventually but unless this is a front line machine it would take years to be a problem if ever.
