cat 257 skidsteer park brake

When operating machine every now and then the park brake will trip. Cycle the switch and it will continue on. May do it back to back and then go a hour before it trips again. What would cause this? Thanks for the help.

I'm not positive on the CAT's, but I know some of the other brands will do it due to the seat/seat belt switch going bad.

Either that, or you need to gain a lot of weight so your butt doesn't bounce off the seat, and actuate the switch, when using it.....LOL

Seriously, thought, I've seen both happen....

Regardless, it's part of the Operator Presence, safety setup designed into them. Depending on how it's done, it can be hard, if not impossible, to bypass.

ncwayne is correct . check for things under seat or sit back in seat . I have the same problem from time to time haven't figured a way to bypass yet.

I have a 277c and the seat switch starting messing up as in tripping when it should not.I spent at least half a day trying to get to it.Finally gave up but I installed another switch on the right fold down handle.I hooked it up in parallel with the seat switch so that if the seat switch did not work when I lowered the seat handle the switch would make and not trip the brake.I have not have any problems since doing this.Hope this helps.
