DROTT 150 loader transmission repair

I am looking to possibly purchase a Drott 150 loader to do some clearing work. The loader has an automatic transmission on it. The transmission works fine for about 30 minutes and then starts to slip. Can anyone give me some ideas about what is causing the problem? The loader can be bought for around $2500 but I don't want to buy a problem that costs a lot to repair or get into a situation where I would need parts that are not available anymore.
Outside of the transmission, it is a good runner.

Any suggestions you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

70 year old with lots of IH experience ,, let it go or pass, there has to be something else out there or wait till you can spend more. The 150s were not much when they were new 1956 or so. They have a ihD283 engine , known for cracking heads. The transmission was early days of power reverser, parts are just about impossible to come by and finding some one that knows has had any experience with them is also hard. Here is what will happen you give 2500 get it home spend 2 grand getting the trans going then radiator leaks or something small another 600 or so , needs batteries, 200 you get the drift right quick you have 5 or 5 thousand then something major like a final drive or the engine goes. You either have a 5 thousand dollar boat anchor or have to spend another 2500 to get going again. Just an old mans advice. And yes I know this is an antique board and some may disagree and you might have good luck but odds are against you. Have a Happy New Year and think about it.

Old dozers get expensive fast, I have a IH
Td9b we have owned for over 25 years,
wasn't antique when we bought it, been a
good machine, I rebuilt the motor after it
got a cracked muffler and water damage from
sitting, but gosh if scares me that if we
ever have transmission trouble or final
drive etc go it may be all over. Parts are
scarce, they aren't like old farm tractors
where tons are out there still so
aftermarket and salvage parts are readily
available. Most of these machines have long
since been gone off jobsites. And even
undercarriage parts are often unavailable,
or really too expensive to justify if they
are available. On a sidenote 25 years ago
our dozer was the Swiss army knife on the
farm, dug ditches, pulled tree stumps, even
large excavations. Nowadays I try and run
it enough to keep it working, I really
could live without it with a MODERN loader
backhoe, and now a mini excavator there
really isn't much the dozer does better or
with less mess

Had a customer about 10 years ago had one that was left to flood in a creek bottom. They didn't realize the water washed all of the oil out of the transmission until after they got it out under it's own power, and with the help of another machine.

Testing revealed the forward clutch packs were shot. At that time there were none available.

As others have suggested, walk away, and find yourself an older Deere, or CAT. You'll be much better off for parts support with either one. Too, the ergonomics of both will be better than those of the IH Drott.

Check out the transmission; it may have been made by Funk back in those days. Parts should be available from Funk, even though the company is owned by JD now.

Unless it shares parts with a much later machine, especially a jd machine, there is little parts available thru what's left of funk, just some old stock etc. I think there just isn't the demand to justify it. Much of what drives parts availability isn't just the US market but global nowadays, much obsolete equipment is still in use in 3rd world countries, but the majority is Cat, Deere or other brands it seems. Despite the name International Harvester they simply didn't get the global market to the extent that others did years ago.

No Funk parts in a 150 or any of IH crawlers. Powershifts used Rockford clutch packs adapted to IH design. The TD9B and 150 loader had a Borg Warner type converter.
Agree with others, another choice would probably be better.
