Caterpillar bulletin cross reference

Hello: I'm new to this forum. I'm a volunteer at a working logging and railway museum where we have a shelf of older Caterpillar manuals, some of which are without the first pages, which we wish to identify and catalogue for use when needed.
Does anyone know if there's an online Caterpillar manual cross reference site? Finning Canada is not able to help.

For example, our Operators Instructions manual for the "1673 Diesel Truck Engine" is labelled "form 34383" dated 2-62 on the back cover of the manual, and our Service Men's Reference Book for a D8 tractor is labelled "form 11943" dated 1949.
Is there a way to look up the [u:58890c5c69][b:58890c5c69]form number[/b:58890c5c69][/u:58890c5c69] and get the name of the manual?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Up to about a year and a half ago you could access "Cat Legendary Literature" to scroll through the list of old manuals but they have since removed access. Don't know if dealers can still access or not.
Your 1949 D8 manual is probably for the 1Hxxxx series D8. Can't help with the truck.
Other option would be to search ebay for suspected models and look for similar manuals that are intact with form numbers.

I have 1 parts manual for 1673 truck engine(1L1-UP)form 33973
1 operation and maintenance instrutions form 33976-1
1 service manual 1673 diesel truck engine

Look at Jensales website they have manuals for just about anything every made. I picked one up for a 1H9603 D8 built in Dec '41

Thanks to those who answered, but...

I HAVE the Caterpillar manuals - 40 or more - I want to find out what they are FOR.

The front pages of many are are missing, so it's not clear. All I know for certain is the Caterpillar "form" number and publication date on the back covers, which are still there.

When I search for the form numbers online, very few give any hits.

So, knowing the Caterpillar manual "form" number and date, I want to look up the form number and find specifically what the manual's for. Caterpillar used to have a cross-reference but it's no longer accessible.

Found this on eBay - may be of help to you.
