temp gauge

D6 temp gauge was not working so I pulled it out and found there was no water in the jacket on the side of the block.Is there a special way of un clogging it ?

There are acids for de-mineralizing metals. Usually called cooling system cleaners. You can also try going at the hole with wires and try to bust through the blockage.

Are you sure the cooling system was full? Sometimes they have a tendency to get airbound.Even so the gauge should have given some reading from the ambient temp of the cast iron around it. Maybe test the gauge by putting the probe part on boiling water.

I put a new one in it and this crawler has been sitting for more then 10 years.I think something is plugged with rust or mineral deposits.We are going to try using air pressure next trip up there.
