W20b fuel problems

The fuel has to be primed daily to start. The loader runs fine once started. Has electric transfer pump on tank and check valve plumbed into fuel line. I am wondering if the electric fuel pump should come on with key on and would loader run if pump was not working? Previous owner switched out motors and lots of wires seem to be cut. This started out as starting fine as long as it was started weekly. Now if it has sat more than a couple of hours it needs to be primed.

I have had the same problem with a few diesels. Every time it was a pin hole leak (or crack) in the rubber fuel line or a clamp or fitting that needed to be tightened allowing air into the line while the fuel bleeds back to the tank.
