im beginning to play with a old cat model 20, i cant find any numbers or data tag on this old machine,apparently it was born a ag machine, in the past it was modified with a farmerized blade which has been long removed, as far as i can determine it has a elgine model L carb on it and the engine is a overhead valve, the story is it was driven to where it is now, that was a long time ago... the engine is not stuck, and the mag is hot, [boy is it hot!] can anybody give me any info as to where i can find a carb kit for that? im sure it needs one by now, and about what decade it is, if there is a serial number on it where can i find it, ive looked on both sides of the engine, around the operators station which is missing its seat, the gas tank, hood, and outside around the chassis plus the firewall, so far
 
Some of these guys that know how to post a link should get you over to the cat antique owners board. Several folks in their magazine that does carb work.

also serial# is found in 2 places---top of transmission housing behind raised portion of steering clutch adj. area
and on crankcase by lifters for #4 cyl.
 
i had a cat 20 for a long time. i added a 10 ton army pto winch to the back of mine. no reverse on winch however, as i used mainshaft of transmission if i remember right. when my carb needed work, i replaced it with updraft carb from a farm tractor. it ran best with flames coming out of the stack after a hard push. by that i mean set the carb up rich. i may have a spare mag and maybe a couple worn out carbs if you are interested. that cat 20 was a lot of fun. to this day i still believe it would out push a 450 deere / case.
