jd 350 wench ?

looking at jd-350 wench pulls good but does not hold well ? Can brake band be adjusted or has oil most likely got into brake area? I was thinking clutches and brake band are in the same hub ?

Take the side plate cover off the winch and spray brake cleaner on the band and try to wash out the oil in the lining, and then adjust the band take up nut so you get a good grab on the winch drum. On some winches you can replace the winch brake band with out too much work.
