Case 1000C dozer

About a year ago my father and i bought a case 1000c dozer to clear some trees around our farm with, Got it home to find out the block is cracked Bad and is making chocolate milk in the oil pan. It'll eat 5 gallons of water in 5 mins. No joke. What would the best replacement engine be? Dad is ready to scrap it and i'm trying to save the beast. Also is there a starter to convert it to 12V? the 24 is about dead

I would think you would be able to find a dismantled machine. the c version would have a more updated track suspension system than an earlier version, personally I would try to save it, does this one have the JD382 engine from continental? I do know some internal parts are hard to find for this engine if it were mine I would try to save it but that"s me

I think Glenn is right find an old Massey 55 tractor and you can have you a cheap engine. They are around mostly down in Texas but running 55s are out there.

Do you have the engine apart , and you are sure
it is the block and not the oil cooler ? Cooler
is the lowest point and if someone drained the
block and not the cooler ,it can cause the problem.
also head gasket -water port to push rod area.

Send me an email , I have had 1000's for more
than forty five years ,and also have engine
rebuild shop (machine shop ).

Where are you , there is a 1000 to be parted out
in the north west . he sent me an email two
weeks ago.

Thanks DT , never knew that and sold several mf 55 blocks to folks going in the old 1000 cases.
