Case 480B Backhoe

Was using the backhoe to bucket limestone in driveway when the clutch adjusting rod broke. I thought this to be an odd failure. It has broken so that the break is inside the clutch housing. Has anyone else ever ran into this type of failure before. Is there any other fix known other than splitting tractor? thank-you Don

There is an access plate on the side of the housing, take it off and have a look inside,if its the rod that broke you can change it but it is usually the yoke for the throwout bearing that breaks, its possible to replace that by removing the cross shaft if there is enough room to get it out.

It is the rod that has broken, it is broken up by the lug with arrow pointing to it. Have the side plate removed, there is not any room in there to get around the clutch, flywheel assembly and the housing. It is packed tight and my hand is too big. thanks Don
