What does it take to get the boom to telescope on one of these? All the other hydraulics appear to work OK.
I'm all about crawlers but know not a lot about cranes...

thanking you in advance

assuming hydraulics are working you need to spool out the snatch block while extending the boom or you can just let enough out as
needed to boom out, hooking a weighted load to the snatch block will help, if you have forgotten to spool out the snatch block it
will jam up the rollers in the nose of the boom and it usually wont spool out with out a weight on the snatch block, look at the
roller to make sure they are not bent

Thank you.
I should have been clearer in my first post. The listiing says that the boom does not work - no further details given. It's up for auction and I'm tempted :)

Could be jammed or could be hydraulic problem. Check all of the cables first; it they aren't jammed up in the boom, then check the hydraulics. Might be a stuck valve, might be some valve dumping the oil, etc. Find a schematic for the hydraulics if you can and trace out the circuits to locate possible problems.
