580CK model 33 backhoe stabilizer bypass

I have 1969 Case 580ck with a model 33 backhoe. One of the backhoe stabilizer piston rods snapped in two when a large rock rolled into it. While I look for a replacement for the cylinder, I'd like to bypass that broken cylinder.

I am thinking that I can just disconnect the two hydraulic lines at the stabilizer cylinder and connect the two lines with a coupling. Will this work or will the fluid work against itself with such a bypass? Any thoughts on how better to easily bypass the broken cylinder?

Thanks.

If you have a coupling you can hook them together or put caps or plugs on each line...the idea is to stop the oil from running out. With the coupling - no resistance, with plugs or
caps the relief valve will open if you move the stabilizer lever because the oil would have nowhere else to go.
